Garments industry generated 2000 jobs in the first half of the year
Mexico City,- The Head of the Representation Office in Puebla of the Mexican Garments Industry Chamber, Camara Nacional de la Industria del Vestido (CNIV), Javier Romero Rueda, confirmed a good semester with an increase in production and the generation of 2 thousand new jobs in Puebla-Tlaxcala Region.
Even if figures are encouraging, we can’t set all the bells ringing yet, he said, defining the status of garments industry as “sustainable” because strong competition throughout the world has forced them to keep the offer.
He informed that upon closing the first semester, growth in Mexican Garments Industry was 4.2%, which has translated into 10 thousand new jobs, of which 20% are in Puebla and Tlaxcala.
He acknowledged, however, that their concern is that the main rebound is in maquiladora industry, not in garments, even if he ruled out these are jobs with no benefits because figures are based on Social Security Institute reports.
