With no stoppages, automotive production has grown in the first fifteen days of January
Mexico City,- Large automobiles assemblers in Mexico are working at full steam. After a chaotic 2009, production plant has started 2010 with an increase in automobiles assembly, which from January 1 to 15 has already posted 112,758 units (against 35,369 in even term last year).
Chrysler de Mexico, which produces PT Cruiser and Journey models in their Toluca Plant, as well as Pick-up Ram in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, reached 8,820 units in the first 15 days of the year. Last January the plant was completely stopped.
Ford Motor Company, which assembles Lincoln MKZ and Mercury Milan models in their Hermosillo Plant at Sonora, assembled 13,817 units. In 2009 they only manufactured 178 vehicles, with partial stoppages as well.
General Motors de Mexico – which assembles Escalade EXT, Silverado, Sierra and Avalanche models in Silao Guanajuato; Chevy C2, Captiva Sport and HHR in Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila; Aveo and Pontiac G3 in San Luis Potosi, and is therefore the assembler with the largest number of models manufactured in Mexico – produced 47,198 units, compared to 9,453 last year.
