Veracruz, ready to start three seaport mega-works
Veracruz, Veracruz,- By the end of the year three seaport mega-works will start in Veracruz, with a total initial investment for MEP$750 million (around US$56 million).
Sergio Iglesias Rodriguez, Head of Veracruz Seaports System, said that the three works will generate jobs and provide economic benefits amidst complicated economic conditions.
One hundred million Pesos will be invested in Alvarado Seaport to turn it from a fishing port to a port for petroleum products, to which purpose the first partial rights assignment has been granted to the transnational company Chet Morrison Contractors.
In Tuxpan the project includes building a deep port with a five hundred million Pesos investment. Works are expected to start early in 2010 to generate between one thousand 500 and two thousand 500 jobs.
