US companies will invest US$2.5 billion in Mexico this year
Mexico,- US companies in Mexico, which generate 30% of jobs here, will invest this year around US$2.5 billion, Alberto Vilar Arellano, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce, informed today.
“The outcome of a survey recently made among our members shows that plans are to invest close to US$2.5 billion in Mexico in 2010”, Vilar said during the inauguration of the Chamber’s IX National Convention.
Mr. Vilar, who is also CEO of MetLife Mexico, added that this figure is only “a floor” and added that “the amount could be larger, if investment environment favors it”.
He said that to increase investments a common agenda must be prepared, which includes processes harmonization and improves business environment.
Vilar also pointed-out that Mexico and the USA could compete with greater success in the global arena and it is therefore important to advance in the creation of a regional integration agenda which favors trade and mutual investment.
