US Industry plummeting: GM 18%, Ford 29%, Chrysler 36%
Not only did GM, Ford and Chrysler suffered a drop in sales at the USA; also Toyota and Nissan are facing a hard time and only Honda stays afloat with a modest 1.1% growth in said month. Industry, and this is not an overstatement, is plummeting. Fuel crisis is playing its role in the situation faced by automobiles sector all over the world: in Europe sales dropped 7.8% last May. Ford Expedition’s sales fell 60%! at the USA last May.
Sales by General Motors, the main automotive industry in the world, went down 18.5% in the US market last June, selling 265,937 vehicles, which is a small figure when compared to the 326,300 automobiles and light trucks sold in June 2007.
Ford, second in importance, had a 28.7% year-to-year decrease in sales last June, with 145,715 autos and light trucks against 204,303 June 2007.
Chrysler sold 36% less last June with 117,457 vehicles; while Nissan sold 75,847 automobiles at the USA last June, a 17.7% drop.
