Transnational companies put their money on gold extraction
Monterrey,- Goldcorp, the Canadian transnational company producer of gold, silver and other products in mining industry, which operates four gold mines in Mexico, is increasing its gold reserves in Mexico.
In an interview, Chuck Jeannes, Goldcorp President and CEO, said that only in Peñasquito – one of the company’s most important projects, located in the State of Zacatecas – they are expecting to produce an annual average of 500 thousand ounces of gold, 28 million ounces of silver, 450 million pounds of zinc and 200 million pound of lead, throughout its 23-years life.
In Los Filos, a mine located in the State of Guerrero, Goldcorp is planning to reach a production of 300 thousand ounces of gold in 2010, because the asset, he said, is in optimum conditions to incorporate new reserves this year.
