Slow recovery of domestic market in Mexico
Mexico City,- The year-to-year 0,1% drop in retail sales last April shows a slow recovery of the domestic market and continued lack of stability in local consumption, analysts pointed-out.
The figure reported for the fourth month of the year by the Mexican Statistics Agency, Instituto Nacional de Geografia y Estadistica (INEGI) takes retail sales back to negative figures, while in the last two months they had been on the raise.
“Domestic market recovery is slower than expected, but the external sector has had a faster performance and even if retail sales figures are not positive, there is an offsetting effect for the economy’s performance”, Luis Flores, Ixe Analyst, said.
