Ford urges to foster automotive sector
Mexico City,- Eduardo Serrano Berry, President and CEO for Ford Motor Mexico, invited other automobiles assemblers, dealers and auto parts and components suppliers to work together and foster growth of automotive sector in Mexico.
“Automotive Industry has been a driving force for economic growth by companies and the country itself; however, this was not done under a team frame of mind. We have grown but in a disorganized way”, he said in his speech at 2009 Auto Motor Forum, organized by the Mexican Automobiles Dealers Association, Asociacion Mexicana de Distribuidores de Automotores (AMDA).
Mr. Serrano spoke about India, where industry was transformed in just a decade and there were manufacturers capable to compete globally on the basis of a strong domestic market.
“We must focus on a common approach, we may find win-win synergies, prepare a strategy as industry, which will not damage our individual competitiveness”, he said.
He further said his company will be developing an engineering area and they will recruit 400 engineers this year. Before tenths of Automobiles Dealers he said: “Making a plan as industry will not take away our individual competiveness”. In Mexico, he said, Ford will purchase this year US$6 billion from suppliers and anticipated that by 2011 purchases will reach US$9 billion.
