Automotive employment in Ciudad Juarez up 21%
Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua,- The increase in car sales in the United States is having a strong impact on employment in Ciudad Juarez, according to experts and data from the Mexican Social Security Institute.
According to SS data, automotive sector in Ciudad Juarez has posted a 21% year-to-year increase.
11 months ago, when employment in maquilador sector touched rock bottom, auto parts manufacturing plants here employed 19 thousand 567 workers.
Up to last April 4 thousand 192 jobs have been gained in auto parts branch, to reach 23 thousand 759 jobs in Ciudad Juarez. Reports issued yesterday by US automotive companies show that in May sales grew up to 31%, higher than expected.
