American Axle will transfer production from Detroit to Mexico
Detroit, Michigan,- One of the most important American companies in auto parts assembly, American Axle Manufacturers Holding Incorporated, AAM, informed today they will transfer most of their production in Detroit, Michigan to Mexico, where they already have operations in cities such as Silao, Guanajuato.
Bill Alford, United Auto Workers Local 235 President said today to Automotive News that American Axle informed them they will transfer part of their production to Mexico.
This production in Detroit represents 85% of the Company’s total components assembly and therefore the measure will hit US labor and will benefit new personnel recruitment in Guanajuato but at a much lower cost for the Company.
