Nissan will lay off 780 workers in 2009
The Company informs that dismissals will affect Tochigi and Fukuoka assembly plants, even if they are also considering an adjustment of their labor forces in Yokohama and Fukishima plants, due to a drop in exports arising from the world financial crisis.
Nissan will lay off around 780 temporary workers in March 2009 due to the current international financial crisis, which will reduce vehicles exports to the United States and other countries.
Tochigi plant stopped producing 10 thousand units of Infiniti model between September and October, and they are planning another production cut-down for 28 thousand vehicles from November to March.
Nissan’s officers said that between March and November Fukuoka Plant will reduce the production of Murano and Rogue models by 37 thousand units. They are planning staggered stoppages and reducing journeys to avoid dismissals.
