Mexico.- Unemployed population in Mexico was 2,5 million people in the first quarter of 2010, taking unemployment rate to 5.3% of Economically Active Population (EAP), two tenths above even term in 2009.According to the Mexican Statistics Agency, Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI), unemployment rate in Mexico went down 0.37% when compared to the last quarter of last year, going from 5.59% to 5.22%.
INEGI also informed that 12.5 million people, representing 28.6% of occupied population, work in the informal sector, the highest percentage in the last five years and 365 thousand people more than a year before.
