Mexico City – For at least 5 months now, the value of trade by land between the United States and Mexico has grown faster than trade with Canada, according to statistical reports from the United States Department of Transportation (DOT).
While the value of goods exchanged by the United States with Canada grew 13.7% in February 2012, the sum of everything that crossed the border from or into Mexico increased its value by 23%.
In spite of this acceleration, US trade relation with Canada remains bigger than with Mexico. The amount of trades with Canada added to US$45.440 billion, while with Mexico it was only US$32.696 billion; this means that USA trade by trucks, trains and ducts is 1.39 times more with Canada than with Mexico.
Both US neighbors keep an advantage in their trade balances with the USA, but Mexico’s is already greater. The difference between what Mexico exports and imports is US$3.801 billion; Canada has a trade surplus of US$2.461 billion with the USA.
