Guadalajara, Mexico,- Corporacion de Occidente, tires manufacturer, has budgeted a US$7 million investment this year to refurbish their plant in el Salto and produce radial tires.A stockholders meeting was held last Thursday (stockholders are members of Cooperativa Trabajadores Democráticos de Occidente —formerly Euzkadi workers— and the companies Cooper Tire and Llanti System), where investments for this year were estimated.
“Of course all pending issues were discussed and the most significant agreements made were approving investments to continue installing machines at the plant; a steelastik machine will be brought to increase the number of tires per day, which is currently 10 thousand tires per day but by the end of the year we should be manufacturing 14 thousand tires per day”, said Jesus Torres Nuño, Secretary of the Board of Directors.
