Mexico City.- If navy industry were reactivated, over 50,000 direct jobs and 180,000 indirect jobs could be generated in the short and medium terms – 5 to 10 years – a figure that would undoubtedly grow, Mario Uribe Fenollosa, CEO, Servicios Navales Industriales (Seni), assured. He added that if Pemex does not enter agreements with Mexican shipyards, the sector is doomed to remain dormant, being limited to repair ships without generating any jobs.
Uribe Fenollosa considered that the driving force to reactivate shipyards should come from the Federal Government, through Pemex and the Ministry of Agriculture, Cattle and Fishing (Sagarpa), which should support the fishing fleet.
