Mexico,- The Minister of Energy, Georgina Kessel, said yesterday that rational use of energy is desirable in itself, because it is always profitable.

Upon closing Energy Efficiency and Access Forum, she said that the challenge in this subject is so big that “we better get our act together and make things happen”. Otherwise, she warned, future generations are put at risk and “this is something we do not have the right to do”.

Sustainable use of energy is part of a broader vision of the future of civilization, she said before tenths of specialists and ministers of energy who met at the Ministry of Foreign Relations, where the Forum was held.

She pointed-out that what lies ahead is very well summarized in the 10 areas of action suggested by President Calderon: fostering the use of renewable energies, programs to encourage a massive change in consumers’ behavior pattern, a technological transition in lighting as well as cleaner fuels and standards for a better yield.
