Aguascalientes, Mexico.- Jose Luis Valls, President and CEO, Nissan Mexicana, and Armando Avila, Manufacturing Vice-President for Aguascalientes Complex 1, will break ground on Complex 2, to be built over 4.3 hectares and which, in the first stage, will have installed capacity for 175,000 units. Al Volante found out the new Altima will be produced there, and maybe the electric car Leaf, transferring to the United States part of the assembly of third generation Sentra.
Over 3,000 new workers will be hired to work in Complex 2; while Complex 1 has been considered a success case in Japan. Jose Luis Valls was at Yokohama with the Japanese press to receive an award because Aguascalientes Plant has obtained positive results, such as an increase in production, thanks to compatible work shifts that increase productivity, one car every 55 seconds.
