Mexico City,- The Federal Government, through ProMexico is working on intensifying trade and .investment relations with New Zealand, which upon closing 2007 ranked 48 in the trade balance with Mexico.

“We have been entrusted with the mission to increase said trade exchange and find windows of opportunity for Mexican businessmen in these two countries”, ProMexico pointed-out in a press release.

In New Zealand, Mexico sold products such as machinery, electric appliances and material, paper and cardboard, automobiles, plastics and organic chemicals, among others.

According to studies made by ProMexico, Mexican businessmen can take advantage of opportunities in agriculture, processed food and textile sectors in New Zealand.

A Mexican mission is travelling to Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney, where ProMéxico, in coordination with the Mexican Trade Council, Consejo Mexicano de Comercio Exterior (Comce) will work on increasing foreign direct investment by New Zealand and Australia in Mexico, in addition to promoting Mexican exports.
