London, England.- The Governor of the Mexican Central Bank, Banco de Mexico, said today that there is margin for the Mexican Peso to appreciate against other currencies, because the rate of exchange does not show the strength of domestic economy yet. “I think the Mexican Peso does not reflect the strong foundations of Mexican economy (…) I may say with full confidence that there is space for the Mexican Peso to appreciate”, Agustin Carstens said in a press conference in London.
Banco de Mexico kept the reference interest rate stable in 4.5% last week, while they remain attentive to a rebound in inflation and growing risks of a global deceleration.
