Mexico City,- For the second month in a row, the industry manufacturer of buses and trucks in. Mexico registered a Sharp drop in production, sales and export of heavy units, which shows the harsh conditions it will go through this year.ANPACT, the organization that gathers manufacturers of commercial vehicles established in Mexico, informs in its Monthly Report that the assembly of this type of units went down 58.1% in February, even more than in January, which was 37.6%.
Production in the month was 3,034 units, which is 4,205 less than in February 2008. Accrued figures for assemblies made during the first two months of the year barely reach 6,765 auto transportation vehicles, for a 48.7% drop.
The Mexican Association of Buses and Trucks Manufacturers, Asociacion Nacional de Productores de Autobuses, Camiones y Tractores, says that the trend is producing practically half of what was manufactured in the first two months of 2008.
In an economy which is practically in a recession, cargo generation is usually low, carriers’ income also goes down, but in Mexico costs go up because of policies of constant increases in the price of diesel. This is another factor that has a negative influence on the production and demand of auto transportation units.
