Monterrey, Mexico,- From October to April, maquiladora and manufacturing industry in Mexico has lost 84 thousand jobs and estimates are that from May to year closing 80 thousand people more will be added to unemployment ranks, only from this sector, Cesar Castro warned.Mr. Castro, Chairman of the National Council of Maquiladora and Export Manufacturing Industry, explained that the drop in orders from abroad has forced a little over 30 medium-size companies to close all over Mexico, in addition to technical stoppages in 20% of plants in this sector and a drop in foreign investment which is above 30% to date.
Only in Nuevo Leon maquiladoras and manufacturing companies have cut down in even term 10 thousand jobs, out of 35 thousand that have been lost in Mexico.
However, the Chairman of Maquiladoras and Manufacturers Association in Nuevo Leon said that they consider this sector has already hit bottom rock.
