Mexico,- Employment in manufacturing sector posted a 4,7% year-to-year increase last June, to close the first six months of the year with a 2.3% increase, according to the Mexican Statistics Agency, Instituto Nacional de Estadistica y Geografia (INEGI).

Based on the Extended Monthly Industrial Survey, Encuesta Industrial Mensual Ampliada (EIMA), INEGI informed that by type of activity, the number of blue collar workers went up 7.1%, while white collar went down 0.5% in such month.

According to North America Industry Classification System, employment in processing sector went up in several subsectors, such as transportation equipment manufacture, with an 18.9% variation, and computing, communication and measurement equipment and other electronic equipment, components and accessories with 15.3%.

These subsectors were followed by machinery and equipment with 8.9%; plastics and rubber industry 8.2% and textile products manufacture, except for garments, 6.8%, among others.
