Monterrey, Mexico,- From here to 2013, the India-based company ArcelorMittal will invest US$400 million to be self-sufficient in Mexico in iron ore production, Bill Chisholm declared.

Mr. Chisholm, ArcelorMittal President and CEO in Mexico, said that they have reactivated exploration projects in Michoacan, Sonora and Oaxaca and that his company has concessions on around 180 thousand hectares.

“Our plan is being self-sufficient in iron ore supply by 2013, with 6.5 million tons per year”, he said when participating in the Third National Steel Congress in Mexico 2010, organized by the consulting firm Harbor Intelligence at Quinta Real Hotel.

“We have a role, a challenge ahead, this subject must be raised before all authorities in Latin American countries, industrialization must have true generation of value”, Julian Eguren, CEO, Ternium Mexico, declared.
