Mexico City.- Installed capacity to generate Aeolian power in Mexico went up from 2 megawatts in 2006 to 773 megawatts in February 2012, according to data contained in the National Energy Plan 2012-2026 (Estrategia Nacional de Energia (ENE) 2012-2026).
“Aeolian power installed capacity is 387 times more than in 2006, after going from 2 to 773 MW in 2012”, the document states, and further clears out in a footnote that “such capacity includes Oaxaca I and II centrals, which started operating in January and February 2012”.
On the other hand, the information points out: “By the end of 2011 construction permits were granted to Aeolian projects for 2,069 MW, of which 43% are already under construction”.
