Mexico City.- President Felipe Calderon said in an event at Tijuana that Foreign Direct Investment in the first six months of the year exceeded US$10 billion. Later, the Ministry of the Economy informed that in the first semester of the year Foreign Direct Investment amounted to US$10.601 billion. The figure was lower than the US$12.239 billion invested in even term last year; in year-to-year figures, FDI dropped 13.4%.
However, a specialist said that in spite of slower growth by investment the goal set for this year to reach between US$19 and US$20 billion may be reached, because most acquisitions are assets purchases.
