Mexico City,- Personnel employed by manufacturing and processing industry in Mexico went down 8.9% last May, compared to even month in 2008, according to the Mexican Statistics Agency Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Geografía (INEGI).INEGI said that the number of blue collar workers dropped by 10.2% and white collar workers suffered a 5.5% decrease in such month. It further pointed-out that year-to-year drop in employment was due to a decrease in the number of workers in all subsectors that make up manufacturing and processing sector.
INEGI informed that in the first five months of this year personnel employed in manufacturing and processing sector went down at an annual rate of 7.8%.
