Queretaro, Queretaro.-Launching to the world the first aircraft completely made in Mexico became a closer goal with the inauguration in 2010 of Learjet 85 Plant in Queretaro. However, it may take Mexico up to 5 years to obtain all the applicable certifications and train professionals for this sector, a business magazine informed. On October 21, 2010 President Felipe Calderon inaugurated Bombardier’s Learjet 85 plant at El Marques Municipality in Queretaro. 85% of the parts for the most recent model of this executive airplane are madehere in the first stage.
Bombardier, a Canada-based multinational company, which assembles airplanes and trains, and which has been operating in Mexico for 25 years now, made an initial investment for US$200 million.
To achieve this goal, Mexico faces several challenges. The first one is passing a rigorous process to obtain the certification by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
