Mexico City.- With a US$50 million investment the first aeronautics lab in Mexico will be built in Queretaro, where all components manufactured by this sector at the State of Queretaro may be subject to destructive and non-destructive tests – currently being made abroad, Tonatiuh Salinas, State Minister of Sustainable Development, informed.
In an interview, Minister Salinas assured that 40% of the resources will come from the Federation, and an equal percentage will be contributed by the State Government, both in cash and in kind, such as the land where the lab will be built; the rest will be contributed by CONACYT, (Mexican Council of Science and Technology) and other research centers, to have the lab start operating this year.
This lab, which will be located in Queretaro International Airport land, is of the utmost importance for Mexican companies manufacturing components for this industry; especially small and medium companies which, due to their size, do not have enough resources to build their own labs, as large companies do, like Honeywell and Bombardier, among others, said Carlos J. Bello Roch, Head of the Mexican Federation of Aerospace Industry (FEMIA).
