  • Mexico remains as an attractive country

    Even if investments in automotive sector are consistent, they will not reach in the short term figures posted in 2005, when US$3 billion came to Mexico, according to Guido Vildozo, Senior Analyst with IHS Global Insight.
  • Chemical company will close its plant in Mexico due to the crisis

    Mexico City,- The US-based chemicals company Celanese informed they will close this month a plant where they produce vinyl acetate, located in Cangrejera Complex in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz. Celanese is leader in petrochemical industry all over the world.

    Upon closing 2008 Celanese had sales for US$6.8 billion, of which 65% were generated outside the United States.

    According to Celanese, the decision to close the plant is due to global economic changes, in addition to cutting down costs, in response to lower demand for their products.

    Celanese assured that production of other products will continue and other plants also located in La Cangrejera will continue operating.
  • Emilio ratifies goal of 100 thousand jobs in telecommunications

    Zapopan, Jalisco,- Governor Emilio Gonzalez Marquez attended the inauguration of Cisco. Systems facilities, world leader in the development of information technologies, telecommunications and Internet networks.

    In his speech, the State Governor said that Jalisco has the goal to reach 100 thousand jobs in this sector within the next six years. “There are currently 73 thousand workers in this industry at the State, in high technology, information technologies and communication, the goal is to reach 100 thousand jobs in six years; it is a huge leap, we are working on this”.

    He informed that Cisco Systems invests US$4.5 billion every year in Research and Development. “When we see the opportunities we have by being linked to Silica Valley in California, we understand there is a great opportunity here to generate more jobs, and better paid jobs, as happens in this industry”.

    Gonzalez Marquez is confident Jalisco will remain up-to-par to quality standards demanded by industry, to increase the number of jobs generated by this cluster at the State.
