During his participation in Mexico’s Manufacturing & Supply Chain Summit 2012, Thomas Karig, Vice-president, Corporate Relations and Strategy, Volkswagen de Mexico, announced that VW Puebla Plant has consolidated its position as the biggest automobiles assembler in North America, by producing in January-March 2012 quarter 133,000 vehicles. He also announced that Volkswagen is forecasting to produce this year more than 600,000 vehicles in Mexico, consolidating also its position as the automotive company that generates the largest number of jobs in Mexico with 18,621 employees hired up to March 2012.
Mr. Karig also informed that Volkswagen Puebla Plant will work at full capacity in 2012, and that their new plant in Silao, Guanajuato will start operations in 2013, generating 700 jobs after a US$550 million investment.
