Westlake Village, California.- Performance of new automobiles sales in January is knocking down fears that the strong closing in 2011 could be reverted, according to a study on monthly sales forecasts made by J.D. Power and Associates Power Information Network® (PIN) and LMC Automotive.New car sales in January are expected to close in 681,000 units, a 6% increase over January 2011. This represents season-adjusted annual sales of 10.9 million units, which is a figure below sales in December 2011 but quite above January 2011.
On this issue, John Humphrey, Senior Vice-president, Automotive Operations for J.D. Power and Associates said that “retail sales of light vehicles in January have shown stability, coming from the strong closing in December 2011. Cars currently stay in the dealership an average time of under 50 days, which is the lowest for a month of January ever. This shows that accrued demand is coming back to the market”.
