Berlin, Germany.- Volkswagen sold 2.16 million units in the first quarter of this year, crossing the 2 million mark for the first time in a January-to-March term, the German assembler reported. Sales in the first quarter went up 9.6% over even term in 2011, while in March sales reached 862,700 units, a figure never seen before for one month by VW.
Demand in North America, China and Russia made up for slower sales in Western Europe, Volkswagen informed.
