Mexico.- The installation of no less than 20,000 wind turbines is required in Mexico to generate electric power from wind, since there is significant natural potential in this field, still wasted.
Erik Winther Pedersen, Business Development Director with Suzlon, a company devoted to technologies research and development for Aeolian turbines, affirmed that there are 600 units installed in Mexico, therefore very little electric power is still produced from wind when compared to other sources, such as fossil fuels.
In an interview, he said that in order to take advantage of Mexico’s natural potential, a long term work plan is required, which includes transmission lines and fixed rates that allow significant investment.
Even if more dynamic work has started in the construction of Aeolian parks, development is still slow, because the installation of only 1,000 wind turbines is expected for the short term.
