Mexico City.- Inexpensive labor and the number of free trade agreements with a broad range of countries make of Mexico an attractive magnet for Italian investments, according to Roberto Spinelli, Italian Ambassador to Mexico.
In an interview, Ambassador Spinelli assured that this year Mexico could receive new investments from Italy, through companies such as the automotive Fiat, the tires manufacturer Pirelli, the chocolatier Ferrero and the steel company Tenaris-Tamsa.
Ambassador Spinnelli assures that Mexico is competitive and that lack of safety has not been an issue for Italian investments.
Even if he would not disclose any figures of the possible investments, for considering that these are decisions to be made by investors, he did say that upon closing 2010 Fiat, Pirelli and Tenaris had invested around US$1.6 billion in Mexico, making of Italy the third largest investor in Mexico, only after the USA and Canada.
