Mexico City – After advancing 29.9% in 2010, exports in 2011 showed a significant deceleration, for they grew 17.2%, which was the lowest rate since 2009. This was due to slower dynamics by manufacturing, especially in the USA, information from the Mexican Statistics Agency, INEGI, states. Last year, total exports added to US$349.677 billion, 17.2% over the US$298.473 billion in 2010, when growth was 29.1% over the US$229.704 billion exported in 2009.
The slowdown in automotive sector was among the factors that contributed to the strong deceleration experienced by manufacturing industry in 2011.
