Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua.- In spite of a discouraging global outlook, maquiladora industry in Ciudad Juarez has generated 17,412 jobs, according to information from Asociacion de Maquiladoras Asociacion Civil (AMAC).
With these figures, the industry will soon reach the 20,000 jobs generation goal set by AMAC early this year.
“3,427 jobs were generated in May, to reach 17,412 this year; the goal set for 20,000 jobs to be generated this year is about to be achieved in the first 5 months. The total number of jobs is 209,761 people employed by our industry”, Jose Luis Armendariz Bailon, Chairman, declared.
“These figures show that we remain as the leading driving force of Mexico’s industrial development, with close to 2 million jobs generated at the 24 states where maquiladora industry is established”, Mr. Armendariz added.
