Baja California, Mexico .-A promotion trip was made last week to London, England to participate in “Farnborough International Airshow 2012”, where meetings were held with top executives from foreign companies in aerospace industry. During this tour, 4 aerospace companies announced investments for a total amount of US$42 million to expand operations in Baja California, where they will create 1,100 new jobs.
Tomas Sibaja said that since Tijuana has become leader in Mexico in this industrial branch and that offer is not meeting demand in this sector, Boeing, Bombardier and Airbus have also confirmed they will visit Tijuana for their expansion plans.
The companies that will invest in Mexicali to expand current operations are GKN, which will invest US$15.5 million and will generate 130 jobs and LMI de Mexicali, which confirmed a US$16.5 million investment and 225 jobs.
In Tijuana Municipality, Zodiac announced they will invest US$5 million and will create 200 new jobs.
In Tecate, Deutsch announced an investment for US$5 million and the creation of 560 jobs, arising from the recent acquisition by Tycho, which is already operating in Tijuana.
