Washington, D.C. AFP.- The new President of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, spoke about the “outstanding resistance” shown by Latin America during the recent crisis, and said he was open to “learning” from their successful models, such as Brazil’s and Mexico’s conditioned transference programs.
“The resistance shown by Latin America in the last few years is outstanding and very encouraging”, Kim said in an encounter with a reduced number of members of the press at World Bank headquarters in Washington. The new WB President spoke about his experience at the region, where he has worked in depth, especially in Peru and Mexico.
“In many cases what member countries want is technical capacity. There are currently many financing sources in the world, we are aware this will not be our role, but rather offering technical assistance”, he added.
