Mexico.- By the end of February ,Nissan will inform they will build their third automobiles assembly plant in Mexico, specifically in Aguascalientes, with a US$2 billion investment.
Ford will spend part of the new investment budgeted to build a diesel engines plant, launching a new engine and creating an engineering center.
Another announcement planned for coming weeks is the kickoff of the construction of Honda’s new plant in Celaya, Guanajuato, to which purpose the company has allocated US$800 million. Honda expects to start production in 2014.
After suffering a debacle during the 2008-2009 crisis, which took many of their plants to partial stoppages, the automotive sector in Mexico rebounded, pushed by exports, which have broken records, and the recovery of the domestic market, though the latter has not gone back to its maximum level.
