Mexico City — Auto parts manufacturers at states in central Mexico, such as the State of Mexico, Queretaro and Guanajuato, are getting ready for the arrival of Toyota Plant in Silao, Guanajuato.
Pieces manufacturers, specially plastics, such as PlAsticos Helios, Valeo, Tremec, TRW and Zanini take the installation of Toyota plant in Silao for granted, and they have therefore started applying for the necessary certifications to meet quality requirements from Toyota.
Eduardo de la Tijera, member of the board of Industriales del Plastico (Plastics Industrialists) in Mexico, said that Toyota is looking for auto parts suppliers already selling to other assemblers.
“As a matter of fact, they took this into consideration when deciding the location, because components supply is critical for them; the Japanese may not depend on supplies from Japan anymore. Toyota is developing its chain of supply in Silao”, De la Tijera said.
