Chihuahua, Mexico.- A copper deposit extending over around 1,600 hectares in Sierra de Samalayuca, some 40 kilometers south of Ciudad Juarez will be exploited through open pit mining to extract the metal found there. Works are underway at the site, reached through trails open among sand banks and bushes, being made by Samalayuca Cobre, a company with Mexican and Canadian capital, addressed in Chihuahua City.

According to the project, US$10 million will be invested in the short term, an amount which is expected to reach US$100 million within 15 years.
