Mexico City.- The German company Audi decided to install a plant to produce Q5 SUV in Mexico, rather than in Chattanooga, Tennessee. “Mexico, renowned for automobiles manufacture, offers excellent economic conditions for an Audi assembly plant”, Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board, AUDI AG, declared. In a press release, the company informed that infrastructure, competitive costs and free trade agreements greatly influenced the decision in favor of Mexico.
The company was assessing the option of expanding the plant their holding company Volkswagen has in Tennessee, where they manufacture Passat, or install the factory in Mexico, which was favored with the decision.
According to information from the company, Mexico is among the top 10 automobile assemblers and stands out for long tradition and experience, since Volkswagen already operates an automobiles assembly plant in Puebla and an engines plant in Silao.
