Mexico City.- The announcement made in Germany on Volkswagen Group’s significant investment in the construction of an industrial complex in Mexico in 2013 to produce Audi SUV’s, which at full capacity will assemble up to 170,000 units per year, considers that these premises, to be located in central Mexico, will be ready by 2016.Walter Hanek, CEO, Audi de Mexico, said that the decision to locate Audi plant in Mexico was based on the 45 years Volkswagen has been in Mexico. “There are enough suppliers to assemble our vehicles, there is the required infrastructure to do it, costs are competitive and international trade agreements are in force. These are some of the benefits that were taken into consideration for the decision”.
Hanek cleared out that the new Audi made in Mexico will not only be sold in the United States, Europe and South America. “We want to manufacture a vehicle in Mexico for the whole world”.
