Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico.- APM Terminals, ports operator subsidiary of A.P. Moller-Maersk, the oil and ship company, announced last Wednesday that they will develop a terminal for containers in Mexico, a project that will require an investment over US$900 million.
APM Terminals informed in a press release that they have entered a 32-year concession agreement with Lazaro Cardenas Integral Port Administration, Administracion Portuaria Integral de Lazaro Cardenas (APILAC) for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of a new specialized terminal, which construction will start next September, with a cost over US$300 million; the first stage is expected to be completed in 2015.
The company added that they have entered an agreement for the construction of this project with one of the main construction companies in Mexico, Empresas ICA .
