Coahuila, Nava.-Mining and iron and steel projects with US$980 million investment, that will generate 3,020 new jobs at Coahuila’s Center, Carbonifera and North Regions, were announced by Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA) and its subsidiary Minera del Norte.
Governor Ruben Moreira Valdez and Alonso AnciraElizondo, Chairman of the Board forAHMSA, headed yesterday the projects’ kick-off, including breaking ground for what will be the largest mine in Latin America, at Sabinas, with a US$620 million investment, which will generate 1,650 jobs for technicians and blue-collars, which when added to indirect jobs will reach 6,000 jobs.
“500 thousand tons of metallurgic coal will be extracted every month for steel production, with a total production of 110 million tons”, the Governor pointed-out.
