Baja California, Mexico.- “40% of maquiladora companies left Tijuana due to the crisis two years ago and to date only 20% have returned, but around 24 companies are expected to establish here this year, generating 24,000 jobs”.
This was declared by Gabriel Merino Fausto, interviewed after swearing in as new chairman of Mesa de Otay Industrialists Association, Asociacion de Industriales de la Mesa de Otay (AIMO).
Mr. Merno explained that economic crises have meant hard blows for maquilador sector, and therefore the challenge is to overcome current financial uncertainty all over the world.
“The rest is to keep on surviving the crisis, we are fighting to remain competitive, this year we are expecting 24,000 jobs will be generated, we have information that companies from the aerospace and automotive sectors will establish here”, Merino pointed-out.
