The Macro
Service
Our Macro Service has been in continuous operation since 1969. No other
forecaster has such a long track record for a developing economy. Our subscriber’s
list has grown to include organizations from all over Mexico, the United States and
Europe.
CIEMEX’s macroeconometric model is in its fourteenth version. The model
contains a statistical description of the Mexican economy, incorporating 180 estimated
equations and more than 1000 variables. Our forecasts and analysis of the national economy
include six-year projections and historical data on:
- Gross Domestic Product
- Prices
- Exchange rates
- Employment and wages
- Interest rates
- Industrial production
- Balance of Payments
- National income accounts
- Financial and fiscal sectors
- The oil sector
Subscribers to our Macro Service receive four Economic Outlook reports annually
incorporating forecasts of more than 800 variables and intensive analysis of economic
policy. Subscribers also receive:
- The Mexican Letter a monthly publication offering an insightful look at current
economic developments in Mexico; included are monthly economic indicators and short-term
forecasts of key price and activity variables
- A comprehensive volume of historical data on Mexico (also available on diskette).
Subscribers to the Macro Service can attend three Economic
Outlook conferences per year, in different cities in Mexico (conducted in Spanish). At
these mettings, members of our staff review recent developments in the Mexican economy and
present the forecast, while guest speakers from the public and private sectors in Mexico
and the United States discuss topics and issues affecting Mexico’s economic scenario.
