Monterrey, Mexico,- Callaway will invest MXP$175 million in Apodaca Municipality and will hire 495 people to manufacture golf clubs and export 85% to the United States, Andres Franco Abascal informed.
Mr. Abascal, Foreign Investment and International Trade Sub-secretary in the State Ministry of Economic Development, said that after a year and a half negotiating, last Monday the company made the decision to establish in Nuevo Leon. “Once operations start, exports are estimated to amount to US$141 million (per year)”, he said. He mentioned that Callaway chose Nuevo Leon due to its geographical location and labor quality. “Two factors were combined: logistics and talent”, he said. He further said that there are high probabilities that Callaway’s suppliers will come to the State of Nuevo Leon as well. Source: El Norte |
