Mexico City,- Mexican companies may cut down logistics costs for up to 2% to 7% when they approach. experts in the chain of supply; this is the opinion of Juan S. Arroyo, General Director of the German consulting firm, Miebach Consulting Mexico.
In an interview, Mr. Arroyo said that such reduction, seen from a perspective of how much it provides for an increase in sales and how it can proportionately cut down logistics costs, depends on the projects to be implemented and each company’s conditions. “There are companies which logistics costs are between 12% and 15% and a wider margin may be obtained; it also depends on the company’s scale economy. Opportunities are not the same when you speak about thousands of tons per month than when it is hundreds”, he said. He further said that a look from the outside may help improve processes, especially in the chain of supply, an area where there still are several areas of opportunity to grow. He added that working with a consultants firm, such as Miebach, may increase productivity, release capital to invest in expansions, improve inventory levels and generate a larger value. Source: T21 |
