Trinity Plant starts operations in Coahuila
Castaños, Coahuila,- Trinity Industries de Mexico started operating
a new plant to produce parts. and components for railroad cars,
structure towers for power generation and several metal components
for both, the domestic and US markets. The new factory, located in
the State of Coahuila, received a US$30 million investment to
generate 300 direct jobs.
This plant is part of an integral project through which one thousand
jobs will be created in its different stages.

Quality Post will invest US$6 million this year
Mexico City,- The Monterrey based courier and messengers company,
Quality Post, has investment. plans for around six million dollars
this year, which will be mainly spent in technology and their
vehicles fleet.
Fernando Benavides, Marketing Director, said to T21 that 50% of this
investment (US$3 million) will be used in automation systems for
correspondence processing, in addition to Global Positioning System
(GPS) equipment for 100% of the Company’s vehicles fleet.

VW will invest MEP$1 billion in Puebla Plant
Mexico,- The German assembler Volkswagen (VW) announced they have
forecasted investment for. US$1 billion for their plant located in
the Mexican State of Puebla in order to increase production
capacity.
Otto Lindner, President of VW Mexico, informed to EFE News Agency
that the German company wants to increase production in their only
plant in North America by 100,000 cars for 2010 with a MEP$1 billion
investment.

O’Donnell will spend US$200 in the construction of industrial buildings
Mexico City,- O’Donnell, the developer of industrial parks, will
invest. this year from US$125 to US$200 million in the construction
of industrial buildings in Mexico.
David O’Donnell, the Company’s President and CEO, said that with
these resources their installed capacity will be increased by 60%,
going from the 5,381,933 square feet (500 thousand square meters)
they had upon closing last year, to 9,687,479 square feet (900
thousand square meters).

Nissan invests in new line
Cuernavaca, Mexico,- With a US$32 million investment, Nissan
Mexicana announced they will start. the production of their new D22
trucks, which will substitute the former model D21, better known as
Estaquitas.
From the total amount, US$15 million were estimated for Civac Plant
in Morelos, in order to make the works required to manufacture the
new model.
“With this new trucks line, Nissan’s purpose is consolidating its
position as leader of light commercial trucks market.

Japan Tobacco installs offices in Mexico
Mexico City,- Japan Tobacco International (JTI), owner of Camel
cigarettes brand, opened their. first offices in Mexico, in spite of
recently approved anti-tobacco laws, in order to strengthen their
presence in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey, according to
Oscar Ivanissevich, the Company’s Vice-president for Latin America.
“We have been in Mexico since 2002 through a partnership with
British American Tobacco (BTA), which distributes our leading brand
in Mexico, Camel, and from 2002 to 2007 we experienced a 10% growth,
which led us to open an office to strengthen our presence and grow”,
said Ivanissevich.

US$150 million invested in new medical center in Monterrey
Monterrey- With a US$150 million investment, construction of the
first stage of Tecnologico de. Monterrey’s Zambrano Hellion Medical
Center started today in San Pedro Garza Garcia municipality in
Monterrey’s metropolitan area.
The Deputy Director of Hospital San Jose, Javier Flores, informed
that the building is expected to be ready by the end of next year to
start offering specialized medical care in 2010.
He said that the first stage of the medical center will have a five-
floor building to provide services in admissions and diagnosis
areas, including emergencies, lab and radiology.
He said that the building will have 110 rooms with state-of-the-art
medical technology and a parking lot with a capacity for around two
thousand vehicles.

Barcelo will invest more than US$600 million in Mexico
Huatulco, Oax- The Spaniard Hotels Chain Barcelo will invest US$600
million in the next. two years in order to increase the number of
hotel rooms in different tourism destinations in Mexico.
In an interview, the Manager of Barcelo Hotel in Huatulco, Angel
Cruz Escudero, said that the goal is increasing the number of rooms
from five thousand 350 to 10 thousand. To this purpose, he pointed
out, negotiations are underway to purchase two hotels in Cancun and
two more in Playa del Carmen.

Mabe plans to sell 16 million home appliances in 2008
Huehuetoca,- With a US$35 million investment, Mabe, the Mexican home
appliances manufacturer. inaugurated a Distribution Center here with
a storage capacity of 350 thousand units.
The Company’s Chairman, Luis Berrondo Avalos, said that the goal
this year is selling more than 16 million home appliances in the
Continent, of which four million will be sold in the Mexican market.

GM planning to invest US$900 million in Coahuila
Saltillo— The automotive giant General Motors keeps on putting its
money strong on Coahuila. as one of its most important production
centers in North America and is preparing an investment for around
US$900 million in its Ramos Arizpe Complex.
According to industry sources, the investment will be announced next
May and will be used for the development of new powertrain
components, such as engines and transmissions, mainly for the new
generation of GM products.
